Interested by a trip in Amsterdam? Look at this special guide.
Discover the Reichstag in Berlin, which has been the meeting place of the 622 Members of the German Bundestag since 1999. It was built between 1884 and 1894 to a design by architect Paul Wallot.
Discover the Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor in German), one of the symbols of the city of Berlin. Measuring 26 metres high and 65.5 metres wide, it was built between 1788 and 1791 by the architect Carl Gotthard Langhans.
The Memorial Church (Gedächtniskirche in German) rises from the centre of Berlin on Kurfürstendamm. It was built between 1891 and 1895 to a design by the architect Franz Schwechten.
Filled with individual boutiques and quirky shops selling one-of-a-kind bargains, Berlin is the place to find something special that you can't get back home. Try the vintage stores surrounding Hackescher Markt in Mitte, or the markets and owner-run shops in Kreuzberg and Schöneberg; Friedrichshain also has some potential bargains along its newly trendy streets. Good souvenirs to pick up are German beer tankards and vintage items from the former German Democratic Republic. And if all you want is a recognized brand name or a flashy department store, go no further than Charlottenburg's Kurfürstendamm, the huge KaDeWe store or Friedrichstrasse with its branch of Galeries Lafayette.
