The Vienna State Opera (Wiener Staatsoper) is an opera and ballet company based in the Austrian capital. The opera house is one of the most prestigious in the world, so is worth a visit. It opened on 25 May 1869 and can hold 2200 people.
Belvedere Palace is one of the most important Baroque palaces in Vienna. It was built between 1714 and 1723 by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt and houses a museum and the Gustav Klimt Collection.
The Natural History Museum Vienna (Naturhistorisches Museum Wien) opened in 1891 at the same time as the Museum of Fine Arts (Kunsthistorisches Museum) opposite, and is one of the most important museums in Austria.
If you thought snow globes were tacky tourist take-homes, think again: these quintessential Vienna souvenirs have been selling for over a hundred years. For other typical Vienna products hit busy Kärntner Strasse, Graben or the city's fashion mile Lindengasse, off Mariahilfer Strasse, bursting with young trendies displaying the latest in Austrian fashion. For the ultimate mall experience, head out to the Ringstrassen Galerien on Mahlerstrasse, an architectural extravaganza with a curving glass roof and around 70 swanky boutiques. And for the atmosphere, wander around three Vienna markets that have become, over the years, institutions: Naschmarkt, Karmelitermarkt and Brunnenmarkt. All are open Monday to Saturday all day.

Description:
A glorious attack on the senses and Vienna's most famous food market. One alley of food stalls and a parallel alley of restaurants and cafés. In the days before Vienna rediscovered itself as a metropolis, the Naschmarkt was the only place where you could get a decent range of foreign foods; although it's lost some of its exclusivity, it remains the most extensive, multicultural market in the city. Expect a great choice of high-quality, good value kebabs as you walk through.
